Experience the power of First Nations storytelling by joining The First Nations Film Festival 2023 (formerly VIFF - Virtual Indigenous Film Festival), a groundbreaking film festival bringing together filmmakers, artists, and community to engage in meaningful discussions, empowering all of us to #BeAVoiceForGenerations.
In 2023, First Nations Film Festival will be hosting its 6th edition, curated around the themes of Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week. The festival features award-winning features, documentaries, and short films, accessible over five days on our unique streaming platform, FanForceTV.
The theme "Be a voice for generations" is all about taking action to support and advocate for positive change that will benefit both present and future generations. As we celebrate Reconciliation Week, let's honour the voices of First Nations artists and filmmakers who have used their talents to inspire change and make a difference for their communities.
SUPPORTING THE INDIGENOUS LITERACY FOUNDATION
This year, the First Nations Film Festival is supporting and raising funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. The Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) is a national charity of the Australian Book Industry, working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander remote Communities across Australia. They are Community-led, responding to requests from remote Communities for culturally relevant books, including early learning board books, resources, and programs to support Communities.
Audiences will be able to donate to the ILF during the film screenings via our LiveChat function. You can also donate directly to the cause here.
"The Indigenous Literacy Foundation is proud to be involved with the First Nations Festival. Funds donated during the festival will help us reach Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander remote Communities across Australia with culturally relevant books, resources, and programs to support Communities to create and publish their stories in languages of their choice."

Testimonials
“I have been really happy with the service provided by Fanforce Films for the last two years in providing a good choice of films that are suitable for viewing during National Reconciliation Week. The choice of films along with the accommodating attitude of the staff has made our National events a pleasure for all Team Members to be a part of. I will definitely be using them moving forward.” - National Manager, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Policy at The Smith Family.

"Quality of the films was exceptional, very grateful to the organisers for making this amazing content available"
"... so glad this festival exists"
"The movies were excellent (although I can’t speak for the scary ones, I didn’t watch them!)."
"REALLY impressed with the quality of filmmaking and storytelling. I have no indigenous blood, but I want to hear these stories which are told in such a clear, mature, resonant voice. Filled with tragedy at times, but even more filled with love, insight, and honesty. These stories belong to all Australia and all Australians."
ABOUT The First Nations Film Festival
What are the Objectives of the FNFF?
FanForce TV is thrilled to present the inaugural First Nations Film Festival, a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous film and art. Our festival is committed to being an important part of community-led discussions during Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC week, and our objectives are clear: to showcase important First Nations creative work, to drive discussion of critical First Nations issues and themes, and to make films accessible to as many people as possible.
At the heart of the First Nations Film Festival is our unwavering commitment to providing a platform for First Nations creative teams and audiences to discuss films and important issues. We understand that the stories told in Indigenous cinema are powerful tools for driving social change and promoting cultural understanding. In addition to driving discussion within our community, the festival aims to drive revenue back to First Nations content creators and fundraising for relevant First Nations-led initiatives, causes, and organisations, helping to make a real difference in people's lives.
We welcome the thoughts and involvement of the community in all aspects of the festival. Whether you have a film you'd like to submit, an idea for a discussion panel, or a cause that you think would benefit from our support, we want to hear from you. Please reach out to us at contact@fan-force.com to get involved and be a part of this important event.
Join us for an unforgettable experience as we celebrate the power of Indigenous cinema and storytelling. The First Nations Film Festival is more than just a film festival - it's an opportunity for audiences to engage with important themes and ideas, to learn from one another, and to build stronger connections between communities. Together, we can make a difference and create a brighter, more inclusive future for all. We can't wait to see you there!
